Tidbits of Advice, part 1: Stuck Joint

It has or will happen...
...got your favorite piece, grab the custom slide & stem...F_ _K it's STUCK!
  1. don't twist...especially if grungy
  2. don't yank off, unseen fracture lines or stress points may cause fracture
Don't end up with this...
Why this happened, you ask...most times it's because the joint is wedged.
And your wondering...if maybe running under hot water will help?

Take our best advice:
  1. clean entire piece; removing grunge maybe the simple solution
  2. still stuck, it's probably wedged...2 tricks to try below
A) Place a pad for stem to fall out on, turn pipe over,
tap lightly on sides of stem with wooden spoon, stem should fall out freely.

B) Create 2 thin metal rods, bending hooks on one end of both,
insert both thru stem, catch stem bottom with hooks,
using both metal hooks pull out from bottom.
Even when trying the best, things still may not work in our favor...if a break occurs, contact us, our glass repair service has restored many pieces and maybe able to help.

Part 1 of 3: Is it milli, murrine, or millifiore?

It's most commonly referred to as milli(s)...have you started a collection?

Murrine (plural murrini) is Italian, defined as colored patterns or images made in a glass cane (long rods of glass) that are revealed when cut in cross-sections.
Millefiore, is a glasswork style word, derived from a combination of the Italian words "mille" (thousand) and "fiori" (flowers).
Marbles are the original attraction, with artists showcasing their millefiore skill.

And now growing in popularity, murrine rods/chips, with complex and detailed images, even portraits of characters and people.
420 culture fueled collectable appeal, as glass artists add style to our smokeware; you probably have or at least seen something with milli art like this...

The Age of Glass

Can you remember the first glass piece you owned?

Old                                            Modern Artist designs
Glass has embellished our lives for years, providing function, aesthetics, and collectible art.  Material properties have allowed for, the ever loved 'bong'; a filtration apparatus generally used for smoking tobacco, cannabis, or other herbal substances.

The 'bong', arrived here in the west around the early to mid 1940s but was recorded in early eastern societies since the 16th century.  Constructed from any air and water tight vessel by adding a bowl and stem, 'bongs' are mostly made of glass but not limited to this material...it's simply the best.

The glass 'bong' was devised from understanding the working property of glass and the apparatus produced; glass blown to serve a purpose.  Creative drive then gave birth to designer art.

The 'bongs' of today are masterpieces!!!  Artist with superb talent take their skill and creativity to a new level.  Taking pride in their hand-blown art, developing brands to choose from.
